Everything about the course that will host the Energisa Búzios Sailing Week 2026

The combination of a consistent wind regime, the proximity of the course and stable weather conditions places Búzios (RJ) as one of the main sailing hubs in Brazil. From 2 to 5 April, the racing period, the region will have average temperatures between 21°C and 28°C, with moderate and constant winds throughout the day, features that favour technical and balanced contests.

One of the main advantages of the event organised by the ICAB (Iate Clube Armação de Búzios) is the location of the course, which allows almost immediate access after leaving the pier, optimising training and competition time.

"Most clubs in Brazil require a 30 to 40 minute journey to the course. Here in Búzios, in five minutes you are already sailing. This has a direct impact on training efficiency," explained Marco Soares, commodore of the ICAB and Olympic champion. The Energisa Búzios Sailing Week established itself precisely on the basis of these unique conditions, attracting Olympic teams and international campaigns, especially during the Rio 2016 Games cycle.

Programme and classes

The 2026 edition will bring together vessels from the ORC (Performance and Cruiser/Racer), BRA-RGS and RGS-Cruiser classes. Organised by the ICAB in partnership with CBVela and ABVO, the event will reach its 39th edition, with a social programme that stirs the city during the Holy Week holiday.

The programme begins on 1 April, with an opening ceremony between 5 pm and 7 pm. The races start on the 2nd, after a skippers' meeting at 10 am, with the start at noon. On the following days, the contests take place from 11 am. In addition to the races, the event will feature attractions such as the Sunset Energisa with a DJ on the 2nd and 3rd and the Energisa BBQ on the 4th. The closing will be on the 5th, with the last race and the awards ceremony at 4:30 pm.

2025 champions

In 2025, the Energisa Búzios Sailing Week counted as the Brazilian Sailing Championship. In the ORC Overall and ORC Performance, the Crioula 52, of Eduardo Plass (VDS), took its TP52 to the top of the podium. In the ORC Cruiser-Racer, the +Bravíssimo, with the Argentine Nacho Giamonna (ICES), came out on top. Among the BRA-RGS Overall and RGS A, the winner was the Nativo 3, of Eduardo Harabedian (BR Marinas), and in the RGS B division, first was the Absoluto, of Kaio Mendes (ICES).
