This allows precious seconds to be gained to assess the scenario, correct the approach, watch fenders, lines, wind and current, and reposition the manoeuvre without needing to constantly compensate for the vessel's drift.
The differential lies in the integration between engines and proportional bow and stern thrusters. While holding the vessel still, the system coordinates these resources to correct small deviations, reducing drift and helping to keep the boat exactly where the skipper wants it. In marina manoeuvres, especially in narrow berths or with obstacles nearby, this level of precision can mean more safety, less stress and greater operational control.
The proposal follows the line of technological evolution that Dockmate had already been presenting with its Dockmate Positioning System (DPS), a solution that integrates wireless remote control with dynamic positioning features. The company had also redesigned its DPS V2 to facilitate retrofitting, increase safety and simplify installation, with modes such as Ocean Mode and Precision Mode.
