YCI hosts the Ilhabela Open Squash by BMW Autostar, an event of the sport's world circuit

The Yacht Club de Ilhabela joins the international squash circuit by hosting the Ilhabela Open Squash by BMW Autostar, a tournament with PSA 15K status valid for the world ranking. The competition began on 24 March and runs until the 28th.

With the participation of national and foreign athletes, the event raises the technical level of the contests and positions Brazil on the sport's professional calendar. The structure set up at the YCI includes a glass court with a sea view, creating a distinctive environment for matches and spectators. Among the confirmed Brazilians are Diego Gobbi and Juan Torres, prominent names on the current scene.

Holding the tournament marks an important step for the club. "For the Yacht Club de Ilhabela, it is a pleasure to host this squash tournament for the first time. Squash has been gaining more and more prominence on the Brazilian sports scene, and hosting a competition with national and international athletes shows that the YCI is prepared to offer a quality structure for this sport as well," highlighted Alex Costa Pereira, commodore of the YCI.

With PSA endorsement, the event awards points for the world ranking and reinforces the growth of squash in the country.
